Thank you!
9.1.19 — This day, always.
From Julia —
When people ask about our friendship, it’s hard for me to pinpoint the exact moment we became more than just sorta-housemates. It feels like we’ve been friends forever, and know all each others’ little quirks. For example, you’ve probably known for a while now how I’ll leave my beverages all over the house, or how often I’m taking space upstairs watching TV and shopping on my laptop, or how often you’ll not notice a new plant I’ve added to the upstairs jungle. For me (and the rest of the house), we know your weekly grocery list, that you never learned how to chop an onion, the throat clearing that signals you just got home (when we all used to go to an office and come home at the end of the day). I even recognize your post-poo cough! Which might sound like weird TMI to anyone outside of King’s Landing, but I think it sounds just like family. It’s a trip thinking how we’ve been building, solidifying, and growing this incredible friendship in this incredible living situation for a decade — and it makes me extremely melancholy thinking about how the end of this era fast approaches. I know it’s not the end, that we’ll continue to build and make memories forever into the future. But I think we’re both pretty nostalgic creatures, so I’ll say it here: We all knew we were in the good ole days, before the good ole days ended. Love you, Kevin.
From Brian —
Thinking back, it seems a little crazy that we went through pretty much all of high school and college only knowing each other by name. From that we embarked on a DECADE long journey together — one that I will never forget. KL has meant a lot to me and has changed me in so many ways for the better. It really is the real life Terrace house, bringing people together that in normal circumstances, likely wouldn’t have become that close. I know I give you a hard time... Almost all the time, but I hope you know it’s because I love you. You’ve grown to be like a brother for me and while we may not live in KL anymore, I hope that drives us to make a bigger effort and be more intentional about seeing each other. I usually use gaming as an easy way to connect with the other guys — I know Valorant might not be your cup of tea since you can’t pop an edible and just follow me or Chris around, so I’ll pick up golf... Assuming that you’ll invite me to play instead of asking me to dog-sit for Ray. Haha I kid. Thanks for making it out to the wedding, leading me back to safety in a sand storm, forgetting a pocketless white shirt, going 15 minutes over the speech time limit, stripping at my wedding, and making me chug a warm Smirnoff Ice when I just came off of food poisoning. You’re the best!
Uncle Kevin, Grandpa Kevin, Coach — a man of many nicknames, but one of the steadiest people in our lives (who loves the number 420… thanks for the generous wedding gift!) Thank you for being such a big part of not only our entire wedding process, but all the little day-to-day parts of our lives together ever since KL was born. We can say with certainty that our lives would be very different if you and Brian had never moved in together — and what a fucking loss that would’ve been.
Thank you again for celebrating with us on this very special day. It wouldn’t have been the same without you.
Love,
Julia & Brian
